Central coast singer/songwriter Elise Boland, otherwise known as Elysae, has released her follow-up single to Blinded (2020).

Angel (Wash It Away) was co-produced by Luke Carra (Caravana Sun) and Ian Prichett (Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls, Kim Churchill) and it came from a dark place in Elise’s life.

She explains:

“This song was born out of a dark and torturous time.

“After a series of events, I was left feeling angry, apathetic and powerless, not only because of what had occurred that day, but because it also brought up a whole lot of suppressed emotions.

“They washed over me with such intensity that I felt paralysed.

“Not knowing how to move through them, I did the only thing I could – write.”

Angel (Wash It Away) is a powerfully emotive indie-pop track rich in atmospheric instrumentation and impressive vocals and is sure to build on the success of Blinded which reached number four in the regional charts.

Elise has shown in her first two singles that she can not only write catchy pop songs but she has the ability to turn out anthems as well.

Blinded was described as a ‘self-empowering anthem’ and Angel (Wash It Away) is equally as impressive with its aggressive guitars, euphoric atmospheres and dynamic movements.

It’s the depth of her work that stands he apart from many of her contemporaries.

Being able to write pop songs that avoid many of the standard cliches of the genre and, at the same time, having something important to say is a skill that is often in short supply.

Elysae has shown in her first two singles that she has all the requisite skills for success in the pop world.
