Interim buses for Moncrieff

Transport Canberra is introducing an interim bus service to the suburb of Moncrieff from 7 July, ahead of a permanent service to be introduced with the new bus network.

Moncrieff will be serviced by the new Route 53, Mondays to Fridays, and Route 953 on weekends, operating seven days a week within the network currently in place, connecting the suburb and Amaroo shops with the Gungahlin Town Centre.

Connections to the City and beyond will be available via existing Red Rapid services and connections to Belconnen and beyond will be available via existing Black Rapid services.

Bus timetables will become available closer to the beginning of the new service.

Warning on gas heaters

Access Canberra has issued advice to homeowners that Vulcan Heritage and Pyrox Heritage gas heaters should not be used this winter until they have been tested by a qualified gasfitter.

The Agency said there was a risk that the affected heaters produced increased indoor carbon monoxide levels under certain conditions.

“In addition, the combination of inadequate ventilation, as well as operating bathroom exhaust fans or kitchen range hoods at the same time as the heater, can draw carbon monoxide into living areas,” Access Canberra said.

“The risk is increased if the heater and associated components such as the flue are not regularly serviced.”

“We have upgraded Manuka Oval, including the new media centre, which will be available for the test match,” Ms Clarke said.

Hawker fields irrigated

A new irrigation system is to be installed for football at Hawker Playing Fields, alongside Murranji Street.

The system is expected to contribute to a better playing surface for football as well as keeping the ground fit for play for the Belsouth Football Club, visiting teams and recreational users.

While the improvements are being made, some of Belsouth’s games will be relocated to Scullin Oval.

The Hawker fields will be closed from 8 July and work is due to be completed in September.
