Calwell fields light up
The Calwell Playing Fields have become the first public ACT sportsground fitted with LED lighting.
With Canberra’s winter sports season about to ramp up, the home of the Brindabella Blues Football Club has been illuminated with four new 22 m light towers supporting an LED lighting system.
This upgrade provides match play lighting for a range of competitions.
Whether at an elite or social level, the high-quality lighting will provide much better visibility to both players and fans.
The lighting system can also be operated remotely and future works will result in it being integrated with an online sportsground booking system that the ACT Government is currently developing.
Funds for Indigenous support
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander–controlled organisations in Canberra are invited to apply for grants from the New and Emerging Organisations Support Program.
The Program supports a number of focus areas, including employment and economic independence, connecting the community, cultural identity and education and leadership.
It provides direct financial support to assist the provision of culturally appropriate services for the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
One-off grants of up to $12,500 are available to assist two eligible organisations each year.
Applications close on 16 May.
