There’s a new Secretary at the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs.
The first female to hold the position and stepping up from a deputy position it’s Liz Cosson who has a formidable military career on her credentials list which included being the first woman promoted to the rank of Major General in the Australian Army.
Our paths have crossed over the years, and Cosson is an impressive person, happy to be in the job she’d hoped to get and well respected by all.
Attending her first National Press Club address with her Minister, Darren Chester, it was a pleasure to be among the Vets Affairs PS supporting their ‘leaders’ and enjoying what was a call for more women to be at the forefront of the National Party in Federal Parliament. Less big hats is the catch cry for this effort.
And an open invitation for us all to take time to visit the Minister in his Victorian territory of Gippsland.
While I can’t imagine a caravanserai of winter weary locals hopping aboard the Chester Express for a mid- winter sojourn in his electorate, I can bet there will not be a whip-cracking demonstration at any mid-winter ball attended by Darren Chester.
An impressive address showed a decent man happy to be behind the machinations for his party, respectful and from one of his staffers, prepared to listen to their advice.
