The latest designs for the Acton Waterfront’s park and public spaces have been unveiled by the City Renewal Authority (CRA), alongside a plan for its future development.
Calling for feedback on the proposed Acton Waterfront estate plan, the Authority said its vision was that the Waterfront would have two important roles, as a destination for everyday life, and a major foreshore recreational destination for the broader Canberra community and tourists.
“With the planning and consultation for the expansive public spaces and park well underway, it is important we consider the broader neighbourhood and how future residential and mixed-use development will integrate with the area,” the CRA said.
“The consultation will gather ideas and feedback to inform the refinement of the proposed estate plan,” it said.
“We are particularly keen to explore place considerations for the estate and test and activate the Acton Waterfront Place Plan themes to build a waterfront all Canberrans and visitors can enjoy.”
The CRA said people could share their feedback through an online survey until 12 December or by attending a community pop-up event at 10am-12pm on 18 November at Garema Place or on 19 November at Henry Rolland Park.
“We want to understand what is important to you about Acton Waterfront and ensure our planning considers place-led principles for the activation of spaces, required amenity and connectivity for future residents,” the Authority said.
