The latest annual report into the quality of water in the ACT has revealed it remains among the best in the country.
Managing Director of Icon Water which produced the report, John Knox, said the utility was privileged to maintain and operate a system that had been delivering beautiful water to the Capital Region for more than 100 years.
“At Icon Water we believe that high quality water is something our community deserves and we continue to work hard to deliver this for our customers,” Mr Knox said.
He said the annual report covered the sources, treatment and delivery of Canberra’s drinking water, and was part of the compliance process for Canberra’s licensed drinking water provider.
“Every year we look forward to thanking our highly specialised scientists, engineers and water industry operators involved in supplying Canberra’s and Queanbeyan’s water,” Mr Knox said.
“Icon Water’s water quality monitoring includes test results from Icon Water’s reservoirs, treatment plants and distribution network, as well as directly from customer’s taps.”
He said more than 400 people took part in the customer tap water quality program, which resulted in more than 1,200 routine water samples collected across Canberra homes.
“Results from the laboratory analysis confirm Icon Water’s 100 per cent compliance with the Public Health (Drinking Water) Code of Practice (2007),” Mr Knox said.
