The ACT Parks and Conservation Service has launched a new biannual survey to find out how it can improve the Territory’s parks, reserves and forests.
Announcing the Visitor Experience Satisfaction Survey, Minister for Planning and Land Management, Mick Gentleman said the Service was calling on park users, both local and visitors alike, to participate.
“We’re keen to hear from as many people as possible about how they use the parks, reserves and forests, what they value about them and what they think could be improved,” Mr Gentleman said.
“It’s about ensuring we’re directing resources into the programs and facilities that our community wants, including walking and biking tracks, signage, toilet and barbeque facilities and conservation management,” he said.
“Protecting the unique and significant ecological values of our natural environment remains a priority.”
Mr Gentleman said the Survey would be conducted twice yearly for the next three years, “so that we can capture the differences in how parks are used in different seasons”.
“As well as the online version, Canberrans and visitors may encounter one of our field officers out and about in the parks, reserves and forests conducting face-to-face surveys too,” the Minister said.
He said submissions to the Visitor Experience Satisfaction Survey were open until Wednesday 6 July.
