ACT Labor has committed itself to taking action on climate change, supporting the tourism industry, and creating jobs if re-elected in this week’s ACT Legislative Assembly election.
Leader of ACT Labor, Andrew Barr said a re-elected Labor Government would take real action on climate change and create 2,000 jobs through its Climate Change Plan.
“If re-elected this October, ACT Labor will start work to deliver one of the biggest renewable battery storage system in Australia,” Mr Barr said.
“A re-elected Labor team will help more Canberra households benefit from cheaper, renewable electricity through a zero-interest loan scheme for solar panels, household battery storage and hot water heat pumps,” he said.
Mr Barr said his party would create jobs through National Arboretum upgrades over the next six months, which would include improved roads and trails in the facility.
He said Labor would support the local tourism sector over the next four years with the biggest destination marketing campaign in the Territory’s history.
“This campaign will start in key domestic markets like NSW, Tasmania and Queensland and will broaden to other domestic markets as borders reopen in COVID safe destinations,” he said.
Mr Barr said Labor would also build new local infrastructure, better roads and create more jobs as part of its plan for Gungahlin.
