The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has announced its new Critical Infrastructure Uplift Program (CI-UP) aimed at raising the security levels of critical infrastructure organisations.
The ACSC has called for all its partners to help pilot the (CI-UP) which it says will protect essential services from paralysing cyber threats.
“CI-UP is part of the Australian Signals Directorate’s Cyber Enhanced Situational Awareness and Response package and compliments our ongoing work to protect critical infrastructure,” the ACSC said in a statement.
It noted the Government was assisting in this effort through proposed amendments to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018.
The ACSC said CI-UP had been designed to evaluate critical infrastructure cyber security maturity and deliver prioritised vulnerability and risk mitigation recommendations.
“It will also assist partners to implement the recommended risk mitigation strategies,” it said.
It said the ACSC Partnership Program enabled a wide range of Australian organisations to engage with the ACSC and fellow partners and draw on collective understanding, experience, skills and capability to lift cyber resilience across the Australian economy.
Partners include cyber security professionals across Government, industry, academia and the research sector.
The ACSC said that following the pilot stage, all organisations in the critical infrastructure and systems of national significance sectors, as defined in the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018, could register to participate in CI-UP.
