Access Canberra wants a noise-free Christmas

As the festive season approaches, Canberrans are being asked by Access Canberra to be good neighbours by taking care not to be noise nuisances.

Issuing its neighbourly call, Access Canberra said people could help manage noise complaints from their neighbours by letting the Agency know of their party or event in advance.

“Letting us know will help us manage any noise complaints we may receive,” Access Canberra said.

“Often we are unaware of how noise coming from our home effects those around us,” it said.

“Alternatively, our neighbours may not realise how their noise is affecting us.”

Access Canberra said that most noise concerns could be resolved with a simple conversation.

According to OurCBR, noise can cause a significant impact on health and wellbeing, particularly for vulnerable people such as seniors or people who are ill, as well as for shiftworkers, and parents with small children.

Access Canberra encouraged people to fill out its Party and Events form which would provide a self-populating letter they could send to their neighbours to let them know about the upcoming event.

“Remember to drop off the letter 10 days before your party/event because most people appreciate advance notice so they can make other arrangements if necessary,” it said.

“This way your neighbours know what to expect and can make alternative arrangements if needed.”

Access Canberra’s Party and Events form can be accessed at this PS News link.
