The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has outlined its planned coverage of Anzac Day commemorations this year, inviting the community to tune in on television, radio, iView and/or online.

The ABC said that across its radio network, there would be a range of specialist Anzac Day programming.

It said ABC Regional and Capital Cities could listen to the National Dawn Service broadcast from Canberra from 5.28am to 6.15am on their local station. They could then stay tuned from 10am for national Anzac Day coverage from around the country.

It said this was in addition to a number of specialist supporting programs run by Triple J, ABC RN and ABC Classic.

The ABC’s television coverage would coordinate the key commemorative Anzac Day events from Australia, Turkey and France.

From 4.30am ABC TV is to broadcast the Anzac Dawn Service from Sydney, followed by the Anzac Dawn Service from Canberra at 5.30am.

This would be followed from 8.45am with live local coverages of marches in all State and Territory capital cities.

At 12.30pm, the Gallipoli Dawn Service would begin from the Anzac Commemorative site at ANZAC Cove in Turkey, followed by the Anzac Day Dawn Service from the Australian National Memorial in Villers-Bretonneux, at 1.30pm.

The Governor-General’s Anzac Day Address is to be broadcast nationally immediately before the ABC evening news bulletin at 7pm.

The ABC said its iView platform would feature a special collection of Anzac Day short stories from 18 April and Anzac Day services would be streamed across social media on the day.

It said all times given above are Australian Eastern Standard Time.
