The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has released a Public Consultation Paper and details of the submission process for the Independent Review of its editorial self-regulatory system and complaints handling.
In a statement, the Broadcaster said the Independent Review of ABC Complaint Handling Public Consultation Paper was written by John McMillan and Jim Carroll, the independent reviewers appointed by the ABC Board.
“It includes the terms of reference for the process and comprehensive details of the framework they are conducting the Review within,” the ABC said.
“The Review commenced in October 2021,” it said.
“The reviewers have already held initial consultations with current and former ABC staff, ABC Board members and external observers in Australia and overseas.”
The ABC said the Consultation Paper invited public comments and submissions on the issues under consideration and consultations would continue throughout the process.
It said the Review was welcoming written submissions until 17 December on any of the Terms of Reference or Key Issues as set out in the Consultation Paper.
“Submission from any member of the public or organisation can be sent by email to: [email protected],” it said.
The ABC said the findings of the Review would be released after the ABC Board received the Report at the end of March.
