Film Victoria has again partnered with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to help fast track career pathways for creative talent from Indigenous and diverse backgrounds.
The ABC said the new round of Film Victoria’s Screen Development Internships would offer two 12-month paid positions for Indigenous and traditionally under-represented Victorian creative talent, to kick-start their screen careers.
“Designed to overcome traditional barriers to entering the screen industry, the internships, launched in 2019, are open to diverse creatives with a passion for storytelling and experience developing, producing or writing creative content, projects or production,” the ABC said.
Chief Executive of Film Victoria, Caroline Pitcher said the success of last year’s internship recipients, Nikki Tran (pictured left) and Davey Thompson (right), demonstrated the value of in-depth programs like the Screen Development Internships.
Minister for Creative Industries, Danny Pearson said the State was working to open new career opportunities in the creative industries and ensure the creative sector represented the diversity of the Victorian community.
“We’re proud to support this program, which will bring new voices and new perspectives into the screen industry and set a strong foundation for the next generation of screen leaders,” Mr Pearson said.
Applications for the Film Victoria Screen Development Internships are open until 14 January.
