The Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) Kids app has won a coveted award at one of the oldest and most prestigious competitions for design excellence in Australia.
The ABC Kids app won a Good Design Award in the Digital Apps and Software category.
The Broadcaster said the app had been tested with over 1,000 families to uncover insights on how to better connect Australian pre-school and younger school-aged children to Australian culture.
“It is now Australia’s No. 1 kids’ app with over one million monthly viewers,” the ABC said.
“Content is carefully curated by experts, including early education specialists,” it said.
The ABC said its teams had completed the design work for the app in an “extremely fast turnaround” of less than 10 months.
Chief Digital and Information Officer at ABC, Helen Clifton said the award win showed how the ABC was making its mark for outstanding product and technology design.
“The Good Design Awards recognise excellence and creative innovation,” Ms Clifton said.
“The Kids app design represents our hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that has improved the quality of experience for Australian children,” she said.
“Congratulations to the ABC teams that worked closely together to bring their amazing skills and expertise to the app in such a short timeframe.”
Ms Clifton said it was a great honour to stand alongside the country’s best and take out a peak industry design award.
