The wonderful Lachy Doley has returned with his first new song in a couple of years.
A world Worth Fighting For is a call to arms for us to do much more to head off the worst scenarios of unabated climate change.
Lachy comments: “With the effects of climate change becoming more real than ever, it’s hard to remain optimistic about what sort of world we are leaving for our kids.”
The track is introduced with a foreboding verse before taking on a more uplifting tone as the chorus arrives reminding us of all the wonderful things we have to live for.
Lachy is renowned for his keyboard mastery and the track features a collection of classic keyboards along with a horn section and soulful backing singers.
Lachy has assembled an impressive line-up of musicians to record the song.
Jimmy’s son Jackie Barnes (drums) and daughter Mahalia Barnes (backing vocals) are joined by Joel Burton on bass, Ray Cassar on trumpet, Anthony Kable on trombone, Matt Kegan (tenor and baritone saxophone) and Jade Macrae, Bec Jensen, and Karen Lee Andrews all joining Mahalia on backing vocals.
Lachy is highly respected in the industry and he’s regularly referred to as the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond organ.
Artists want to work with him so it’s no surprise that he’s assembled an impressive line-up for this recording.
A World Worth Fighting For has Lachy’s trademark underlying blues and soul influence but it also contains elements of funk and even a hint of disco.
It’s great to have a new song from Lachy. It’s been a bit of a dry spell for him over the last couple of years which is something that he’s not used to.
Google him or get onto Bandcamp and check him out. You’ll be amazed by his discography. He certainly has been prolific.
There are many clips on YouTube that show just how talented he is.
