Piper Butcher is a young Novocastrian who I believe has a big future ahead of her.
She has released four singles to date, and an EP, September (2021).
Each of them has been very good. Unconscious Mind is her latest release.
Unconscious Mind is a great blues track that showcases Piper’s feel for the genre and her impressive vocals.
She possesses a wonderful soulful voice that is eminently suited to the soul, blues, and the rock-drenched spectrum of popular music.
Her debut single, Haunting Your Thoughts (2021), while a rock/blues track, contained elements of country rock and she followed that up with a ballad, Before The Thunder, which was also released in 2021.
She has built on these opening efforts with her debut EP September (recorded in September ’21) and another two singles released in 2022.
Read Between The Lines (2022) turned up the volume and really allowed Piper to display her power.
All of her tracks are well written and expertly performed but she’s really stepped it up a notch with Read Between The Lines and, particularly, with Unconscious Mind.
The restrained beginning to the track gives little indication of what is to come, however, as we approach the chorus Piper unleashes the power.
Her impressive vocal soars over a strident rock track complete with power chords, backing vocals, and a blues drenched mix that suggests there’s a lot more depth to her than one expects from someone so young.
She has impressed enough people in the industry to include her on the performers list alongside names such as: Diesel, Kasey Chambers, Glenn Shorrock, The Black Sorrows, The Badloves, and Thirsty Merc, just to name a few.
