As Canberra’s children prepare for the beginning of a new school year, Transport Canberra is encouraging families to familiarise themselves with its new bus timetable.
Issuing the call, the Directorate said changes to the bus network and timetable would start on 30 January, including refinements to a number of school services based on school and community feedback.
“The network uses the full bus fleet and driver resources to meet the changing travel needs of Canberrans,” Transport Canberra said.
“They take into account London Circuit, Woden bus interchange and Woden town centre construction,” it said.
“Dedicated school services resume with the start of the school year.”
Transport Canberra asked families to check the school bus timetables and use NXTBUS to track services arriving at bus stops.
It said light rail would continute to run to a normal frequency, and any changes to frequency or disruptions to services would be communicated to customers.
“Remember to slow down and obey the signposted school zone limits,” the Directorate said.
“Park safely and legally around schools to keep the youngest members of our community safe, especially at school drop off and pick up times,” it said.
“Safe driving will be enforced through mobile speed vans and licence plate recognition vans. ACT Policing regularly patrol school zones.”
