The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) is calling on all Australian Public Service employees to help shape a new position on pay and conditions.
Launching its new survey, the Union said that with the change of the federal Government, ‘genuine’ bargaining was now back on the table.
“Earlier in the year members completed a survey on the conditions improvements you want your union to stand for,” the CPSU said in a message to its members.
“Members said they wanted to see changes such as locking working from home rights into agreements, job security, better consultation, improvements to paid parental leave, and more,” it said.
“Now it is time to talk about pay.”
It said the completed survey asked questions about policies that “have held down public sector wages and how you have been affected by those policies”.
“We’re going to ask you to consider what a fair and achievable pay increase would be for each year of a hypothetical three-year agreement,” the CPSU said.
“The reason for this is that the economic environment is currently uncertain, and economic indicators such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, are harder to predict for a longer term agreement,” it said.
“So your pay expectations might be different in the first year of an agreement, the second year, and the third year.”
The CPSU has suggested to its members that they share the survey with their colleagues.
