The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has announced that the Digital Marketplace has reached two significant milestones.

An initiative of DTA, the platform is celebrating its second anniversary and hosting more than 1,000 opportunities for businesses of all sizes.

Chief Executive of DTA, Randall Brugeaud said that simplifying procurement processes for Government buyers and private sector sellers, the Digital Marketplace had awarded contracts in excess of $248 million over the past two years.

Mr Brugeaud said the Digital Marketplace played a key role in the ICT procurement transformation being led by his Agency.

“Our objectives are to improve access, encourage competition and innovation and streamline procurement processes,” Mr Brugeaud said.

“Our clear message is that the Australian Government is open for business”.

He said that DTA always had high hopes for the Digital Marketplace.

“Our latest milestone of 1,000 opportunities is a testament to the value of the platform for both Government and industry.”

He said that since launching in 2016, the Digital Marketplace had focused on transforming how Government bought digital services.

“It initially opened with a limited number of product categories and suppliers, but it quickly expanded its horizons,” Mr Brugeaud said.

“In early 2017 it was opened up to an unlimited number of sellers across a range of categories, including cyber security, data science and emerging technologies.”

He said the Digital Marketplace now had well over 1,700 buyers from almost 100 Government Agencies, enterprises and universities, 0ffering them a broad range of opportunities to partner with industry.

He said it hosted an equally diverse range of sellers, with businesses of all sizes listed in in the seller catalogue.
