Melbourne Water has launched a new online community hub for Wyndham local to keep them up to date with what’s happening at the Western Treatment Plant (WTP).

Manger of Western Treatment Plant and Sewerage Transfer at Melbourne Water, Alanna Wright said the hub was designed to provide the community with regular updates on the plant’s latest projects, news and events.

“The WTP is iconic and synonymous with the area,” Ms Wright said.

She said the Plant played a vital role in public health by receiving and treating about half of Melbourne’s sewage, but it also had historic, environmental and cultural significance.

“The site is a very special place,” Ms Wright said.

“There is always something interesting happening and we want to share that with locals in a simple and interactive way,” she said.

“Many people may not realise the plant not only provides low-cost sustainable sewage treatment, but it has a continually evolving resource recovery program coupled with a thriving ecosystem, internationally-recognised bird habitat and popular education program.”

Ms Wright said people who wanted to join the new hub, and be the first to know about the WTP’s latest news and upcoming events, should click the ‘follow’ button on the hub’s homepage

The WTP Online Community Hub can be accessed at this PS News link.
