The Queensland Police Service (QPS) ranks have been boosted by 25 officers who have either joined, or returned to the QPS after serving in various policing jurisdictions around Australia and New Zealand.
Minister for Police, Mark Ryan and Acting Assistant Police Commissioner, Mark Kelly presided over the ceremony for the largest, one-off induction of interstate and international officers.
Mr Ryan said the officers had a rewarding career ahead of them protecting and serving the public through the QPS.
“I would like to welcome these new officers to Queensland today, both those who are relocating and those who are coming back into our ranks. There really is no better State to enter a career in policing,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Police Abridged Competency Education (PACE) program has allowed them to enhance their existing experience in an abridged training course which prepares them to serve and protect our communities.’’
Acting Assistant Commissioner Kelly said having these officers join the ranks was an asset to the QPS, as they brought with them knowledge and policing experience that would be drawn upon during their duties.
“Each officer has graduated through the PACE program which recognises their prior experience,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Kelly said.
“They join us from careers in New Zealand Police, Northern Territory Police, Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police. We also have some returning Queensland Police members who we welcome back into our ranks.”
