Beenleigh Fire and Rescue Station has received an equipment upgrade with a new Type 4 Urban appliance officially handed over.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Mark Ryan said the truck had an increased water-pumping capacity and water-holding capability and carried both A and B class foam.
“This means firefighters can respond to a range of incidents from structure fires to gasoline and diesel fires,” Mr Ryan said.
“This truck will support larger structural incidents to deliver a sustained supply of water and foam and will also support lifesaving incidents on highways where reticulated water is unavailable.”
He said the Government had allocated more than $900 million in its 2022-23 Budget to ensure that fire and emergency services workers had the best services and equipment available.
Acting Deputy Commissioner for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Stephen Smith said firefighters played a vital role in community safety.
“Firefighters play an essential role in protecting people who live and work in Beenleigh and the surrounding area,” Acting Deputy Commissioner Smith said.
“As Beenleigh is growing, the local fire station was specifically selected to house the appliance due to its geographical location and proximity to the highway.”
He said residents could rest assured the state-of-the-art truck meant firefighters were safer and ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
The new 3,000 litre Type 4, valued at more than $1.17 million, is part of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Fleet Replacement Program designed to ensure firefighters have the best tools at hand.
