The Victorian Public Sector Commission is gearing up for its annual People Matter Survey, with a revamped approach to make participation easier and more enjoyable for the State’s Public Servants.
Announcing the dates for this year’s Survey, the Commission said it conducted the Survey to support Public Sector organisations in building positive workplace cultures that operated consistently with the Public Sector values.
“Following sector-wide consultation in 2021, the Victorian Public Sector Commission will offer a short Survey in 2022, and a longer Survey in 2023 to help organisations meet their Gender Equality Act 2020 audit and reporting requirements,” the Commission said.
It said this year people would see a shorter Survey, around half the length of the 2021 Survey; less repetition in the questions; improved user experience; and shorter reports focused on wellbeing.
The Commission said new additions to the Survey questions examined whether people felt they could be themselves at work; their feelings of belonging; barriers to success; and their intention to stay with their organisation.
“All eligible Public Sector organisations are expected to take part in the 2022 Survey,” it said.
“Greater organisation participation improves the consistency of data collection across the Public Sector and enables annual reporting that is more representative of the Public Sector.
“Increasing the number of participating organisations from across the Public Sector supports accountability across the Government.”
The Commission said the Survey was optional for individuals, however, employees were encouraged to have their say to provide feedback on their workplace experience.
“When more people take part in the Survey, their views of their organisation strengthen the case for workplace cultural change,” it said.
The Commission said the People Matter Survey wellbeing check would run from 6 June to 1 July and results would be given to organisations in late July.
