The Department of Finance has announced that the hosting contract for GovCMS is to change hands next month.

In a statement, the Department said the expiration of the existing contract provided an opportunity to go back to the market with redefined requirements to meet the needs of the ever-evolving service.

“Following an evaluation process, Finance would like to announce that Salsa Digital has been selected as the preferred supplier,” the Department said.

It said Salsa Digital had partnered with Amazee.io as its subcontractor.

“Salsa Digital will continue to provide Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) hosting on the public cloud with Amazon Web Services (AWS), using the Drupal open source Content Management System (CMS),” the Department said.

“The partnership with Amazee.io will provide further enhancements to the service.”

It said the new hosting arrangements would be available for GovCMS customers before the end of 2018.

“Finance will manage the migration of existing SaaS websites to the new platform, and will work with Agencies to migrate PaaS sites across once SaaS migrations are complete.”

It said the new solution would bring GovCMS onto an entirely open source platform for the first time and also feature cutting-edge web development tools.

It has also released a technical overview which highlights many of the new features.

Finance said that further details of the changeover and new arrangements would be provided at a GovCMS Information session on 28 September in Canberra which would be open to interstate participants via remote access.

The Department’s 5-page technical overview can be accessed at this PS News link.
