Director General of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), Ralph Addis has announced he will step down from the position.

After seven years heading the DPIRD and the previous Department of Regional Development, Mr Addis (pictured) said he was taking an opportunity to move into another role as he approached the end of his current contract.

He will become Chief Executive Officer of Lotterywest and Healthway, beginning on 7 February and continuing until the end of his contract on 30 June.

The position of Director General at the DPIRD is to be advertised in coming days, with Chief Executive Officer of the Pilbara Development Commission, Terry Hill acting as Director General until the recruitment process is finalised.

Minister for Regional Development and Agriculture and Food, Alannah MacTiernan said Mr Addis had played an important role in overseeing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Food, Regional Development and Fisheries.

“He has helped to put the Department on a more sustainable footing following the heavy cuts of the previous Government and facilitated the Government’s job-creating regional development and primary industries programs,” Ms MacTiernan said.

“I would like to thank Ralph for his service and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” she said.
