The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy has found that more than a million Queenslanders have now linked their COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check In Qld app.
Minister for Digital Economy, Leeanne Enoch said this was the easiest way to get ready for the changes to restrictions that were coming in a few days.
“From 13 December all Queenslanders and visitors will need to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status as a condition of entry to many businesses and locations,” Ms Enoch said.
“We’ve updated the Check In Qld app so that you can link your COVID-19 digital certificate from the MyGov website or Medicare Express app,” she said.
Ms Enoch said as a result, people could now check in and show their proof of vaccination status simultaneously when visiting businesses and locations across the State.
“This is about being able to continue doing the things we enjoy, whether it is visiting a café, restaurant, bar or club, going to a sporting event or theme park or enjoying a live music venue, Queensland Government-owned gallery, museum or library,” she said.
“Businesses can go back to operating at full capacity and patrons can enjoy our beautiful Queensland lifestyle.”
The Minister said, however, that linking a COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check In Qld app was optional.
“People can also download a copy of their COVID-19 digital certificate to their Apple wallet or Google Pay to show, or provide a printed copy of their immunisation history statement if they prefer,” Ms Enoch said.
