The Education Directorate is calling for experienced teachers and new graduates to join or re-join the ACT public school system.
In a statement the Directorate said ACT public schools offered rewarding jobs, great career opportunities and the highest paid teaching positions in the country.
“Our schools have a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve,” the Directorate said.
“Our principals and school leadership teams work together to create welcoming and safe environments that support the wellbeing of their staff and students,” it said.
“Teachers in the ACT Education Directorate have Australia’s leading employment conditions for teachers.”
The Directorate said the ACT Public Sector Education Directorate (Teaching Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2018–2022 had the highest wages and best superannuation benefits in the country; agreed class sizes; and paid employer superannuation contributions on the first 12 months of unpaid birth leave, bonding leave, primary care giver leave, adoption or permanent care leave.
“Our teachers are highly capable, skilled and future-focused,” it said.
“As a leading learning organisation, we are committed to continuing professional learning and development to build and support quality teaching.”
The Directorate said continued professional learning and development was supported through individual performance and development plans aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers; school-based Professional Learning Community programs; and teacher scholarships that provided financial support to undertake further education, training and research.
It said full and part-time positions were available for teachers in ACT public schools.
