Jobs Victoria has recruited more than 420 Public Servants and is preparing to hire a further 180 to help members of the public who are on the hunt for a new job.

Commenting on the hiring blitz, Minister for Employment, Jaala Pulford said the team of Jobs Victoria advocates, mentors and career counsellors offered free advice and support to people looking for a new job or a career change.

“Mentors help people find a job that suits them and support them in their role for the first six months,” Ms Pulford said.

“The mentors will assist people who have been unemployed for six months or more, or are without a job and at risk of long-term unemployment, and can also connect employers with suitable local candidates,” she said.

“The career counsellor service helps people understand their career options and goals and give them the tools to explore different interests, identify transferable skills and create a pathway for change.”

Ms Pulford said Jobs Victoria advocates were deployed in communities across the State to connect people with the services that were right for them, “whether it be help with their resume or help connecting them to or directing them to an employment service”.

The Minister said Jobs Victoria employment services were accessible online and over the phone while COVID-19 restrictions were in place.

“By helping people find a job that suits them, we’re providing thousands of Victorians with financial independence and security,” she said.

“These Jobs Victoria employment services are creating big changes in the lives of job seekers, giving them access to hundreds of people who will help them find work,” Ms Pulford said.
