NIGERIA

The Governor of the Nigerian State of Katsina, Aminu Bello Masari (pictured) has decried the performance of his Public Servants, saying they are lazy and some sections are not cooperating with the Government.

Mr Masari made the observations while swearing-in the newly appointed State Head of Service, Alhaji Idris Usman Tuni.

He said his Government did not believe in tampering with the tenure of PS employees or removing them from office based on their political leanings, affection or ill will.

“However, Civil Servants should keep faith with this Government and not idle away precious hours through gossiping at the roadsides,’’ Mr Masari said.

In other news from Nigeria, 160 children of PS employees will receive scholarships in information technology, provided by a local IT company.

Chief Executive of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo said the scholarships were a plan to “catch them young”, enabling the Government to have a solid base on which to launch into the technology-driven age.

He said it would also afford the new generation an opportunity to smoothly key into the e-government policy of the Federal Government.

Mr Obatoyinbo said the scholarships were being awarded by HIIT Plc in collaboration with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan.
