The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) marked Father’s Day last week by recognising the model dad, Anthony White, as Father for the Day.

The Service said Mr White, a life member and Unit Controller of the Sunbury Unit of VICSES, had served the community as a volunteer for 14 years.

It said that Mr White’s wife and Community Resilience Coordinator with VICSES, Tracey White and their three daughters, Samantha, Vanessa and Rachael were also volunteers with the Service.

“He is as dedicated to the VICSES as to his children,” Tracey White said.

“Sometimes I wonder if VICSES is a bit like his fourth child,” she said.

“He is a wonderful husband and father.

“As for the whole family becoming volunteers, I guess it was case of if you can’t beat them, join them.”

VICSES said Mr White was also a grandfather and his daughter Samantha White a volunteer with the Sunbury Unit of VICSES.

She gave birth to son Maverick on Easter Sunday.

“My dad has always led by example,” Samantha White said.

“At the unit, he would never ask us to do anything he wouldn’t do himself,” she said.

“He taught us that you do this work because you love it and because you care.

“We are definitely a family known for volunteering – we also volunteer with SunFest, the Sunbury Community Festival which is normally in the third weekend of March.”
