The Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) have partnered to provide Queensland public sector leaders with access to a series of cross-cohort masterclasses and learning groups.
According to the PSC the Queensland Public Sector Leadership Development Series 2021-2022 will include six masterclasses for executives (SES and equivalent) and program leaders (SO/AO8 and equivalent).
The Commission said the masterclasses would be facilitated by a group of leading domestic and international thinkers on public management and leadership, and would be interactive and online with three this year and three in 2022.
It said there would be up to 400 places in each session.
The PSC said the first masterclass, Leading in the New Novel-Normal, would be held on Thursday 26 August when Faculty Chair of the Executive Fellows Program at ANZSOG, Dana Born will seek to broaden and strengthen participants’ personal and professional capacities by exploring ways to enhance curiosity and learning; embrace who you are and why you are; and to incentivise your distinctive approach and responsibility to inspire and elevate others.
It said that on Wednesday 6 October, Leading Responsively would involve Secretary for the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Victoria, Chris Eccles exploring the unique responsibility of public sector leaders to support the social contract that exists in the relationship between those who govern and those who are governed.
Then on Thursday 18 November, in Systems Leadership – Community Engagement in Policy and Service Design, Chief Executive Officer of the Benevolent Society, Lin Hatfield Dodds will explore the leadership needed to build broader systems-wide engagement across sectors to achieve greater collective impact and public value.
The PSC said the 2022 masterclasses would be Building a Diverse and Inclusive Public Sector (February); Governance, Accountability and Ethics (April) and Thriving in the Digital Age (May).
The Commission said learning groups, over this year and next, would be by invitation.
