The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s (PM&C) Office of Best Practice Regulation (OBPR) has announced that all 12 videos of the Exploring Impact Analysis series are now available to watch on its new website.
The OBPR said the video series provided information on the importance of impact analysis and how it contributed to good policy proposals.
In a statement, PM&C said the videos explored the need for Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) and how the process broke down complex policy issues.
“It helps officials to better understand the potential impacts to ensure informed and evidenced-based policy analysis is undertaken, and why it is also a Government requirement,” it said.
“The OBPR works directly with policy-makers to help them through this process, with the video series providing insights from senior executives and officials on how policy-makers can use the impact analysis process to deliver best-practice analysis.”
The Department said those contributing to the series included: Secretary, Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, Andrew Metcalfe; Deputy Secretary, Australian Department of Health, John Skerritt; Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, Kate Carnell; Chief Executive of Food Standards Australia New Zealand, Mark Booth; and Chief Executive, Australian Building Codes Board, Neil Savery.
Sample titles of the video include: Impact Analysis Helps to Create Best Practice Policy; Considering all Options when Coming Up with Policy Solutions ; and Support, Advice and Training for Policy-makers.
