The Transport Canberra and City Services Directorate has announced changes to carparks on London Circuit and Marcus Clarke Street in the city, due to begin in August.
The Directorate said the planned changes to public parking on the two sites would allow for light rail to Woden construction site compounds to be established.
“The establishment of site compounds will result in temporary reduced public parking,” the Directorate said.
“These changes will occur from August and are expected to be in place for several years,” it said.
“The proposed compound locations are in the existing carpark on the corner of London Circuit and Constitution Avenue, and at 41-51 Marcus Clarke Street.”
The Directorate said the compounds would be used for site offices, storage, construction parking and utility installation.
“The establishment of the construction compounds will include signage installed in the coming weeks,” it said.
“The project team is currently engaging with the community about these compound locations and will provide updates on timing, impacts and any further changes.”
The Directorate said people could learn more about light rail to Woden by attending an upcoming city information session on 2 August at QT Canberra, 1 London Circuit.
It said virtual community information sessions were planned for mid-August where participants would be able to join sessions remotely and the project team would be on hand to answer any questions in real time.
