The Wageline long service leave calculator has marked a year of operation during which it has been accessed more than 74,000 times.
In a statement, the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety said the figures demonstrated that Wageline had become a valuable tool for both employers and employees.
“The WA long service leave calculator provides an estimate of an employee’s long service leave entitlement when employment ends, for those covered by the WA Long Service Leave Act 1958,” the Department said.
“Full time, part time and casual employees are entitled to pro rata long service leave after at least seven years of continuous employment,” it said.
“The full entitlement to long service leave is available to employees after 10 years of continuous employment.”
The Department said further information on the provisions of the Long Service Leave Act 1958 was available on its website.
Frequently asked questions included: Are casual and seasonal employees covered by the Long Service Leave Act? What is the entitlement to long service leave? What is continuous employment? What is the effect of absences and interruptions to employment? What is an employee’s ‘normal weekly number of hours’?
Wageline is open to answer questions from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 9am to 4.30pm on Tuesday.
