Comcare’s National Work Health and Safety Awards for 2021 have been presented to recognise the efforts made to keep the Australian Public Service’s large workforce COVID-safe.
According to the Chief Executive of Comcare, Sue Weston the awards also noted innovations for handling Defence Force explosives, and a program to reduce recovery times for long-term injuries.
Ms Weston said the awards, announced this week in a virtual ceremony, honour initiatives to deliver safe and healthy workplaces across the Comcare scheme.
She said the winning entries showed great commitment at the organisational and individual level.
“These initiatives demonstrate how much opportunity there is to make significant impacts in enabling safe and healthy work in our diverse jurisdiction,” Ms Weston said.
“It’s important that we celebrate and reward leadership and innovation across our scheme. Achievements like these can inspire others to reduce injury and harm in the workplace.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the winners and finalists.”
The Work Health and Safety Awards are usually celebrated as part of Comcare’s National Conference, which has been postponed until 2022.
