New faces for Indigenous homecoming
Leitha Assan (pictured), Rebecca Richards, and Shaun Angeles have been appointed members of the Advisory Committee for Indigenous Repatriation for three-year terms.
Dr Lyndon Ormond-Parker has been reappointed.
Ms Assan is from the Torres Strait Islands and is Exhibitions and Public Program Manager at the Torres Strait Regional Authority’s Gab Titui Cultural Centre.
Ms Richards is from the Flinders Ranges in South Australia and is an Early Career Researcher at the South Australian Museum.
Mr Angeles is the Artwe-kenhe (Men’s) Collection Researcher at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin.
Dr Ormond-Parker is an Australian Research Council Research Fellow in the Indigenous Studies Unit of the University of Melbourne’s School of Population and Global Health.
The all-Indigenous committee advises on issues relating to the repatriation of ancestral remains.
Brennan to Productivity Chair
Michael Brennan has been appointed the full-time Chair of the Productivity Commission for a five-year period beginning on 11 September.
He will replace Peter Harris, who advised he would not seek reappointment.
Mr Brennan served as Deputy Secretary for the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance before joining the Commonwealth Treasury as the Deputy Secretary of Fiscal Group.
The Productivity Commission is an independent authority and the Government’s principal advisory body on microeconomic policy and regulation.
