A new free digital platform has been launched to help workplaces identify and manage work-related psychology hazards and factors.

Launched by Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA), the digital platform, People at Work is a joint initiative of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, Safe Work Australia, SafeWork NSW, WorkSafe Victoria, Comcare, SafeWork SA, NT WorkSafe, WorkSafe ACT, WorkSafe WA, WorkSafe Tasmania, and the WorkCover Tasmania Board.

HWSA is made up of representatives from work health and safety regulators across Australia and New Zealand.

Announcing People at Work as Australia’s only validated psychosocial risk assessment tool, Workplace Health and Safety said the free, digital platform was dedicated to creating mentally healthy workplaces.

Chair of the Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA), Martyn Campbell said workplaces had a duty to protect the psychological health of workers in the same way they protect their physical safety.

People at Work helps organisations identify, assess and control risks to psychological health and safety,” Mr Campbell said.

“Industry has been crying out for an easy-to-use psychosocial risk assessment tool and People at Work is just that.”

He said that previously a paper-based survey, with onerous and time-consuming manual data entry sheets, had been replaced by People at Work which was now accessible through a much more user-friendly digital platform.

People at Work helps organisations identify, assess and control risks to psychological health and safety,” he said.

“People at Work supports Australian organisations to meet their legislative work health and safety responsibility to identify and manage psychosocial risks in the workplace.”

He said the digital Platform laid out an easy-to-follow, five-step process with resources, interactive learning modules, a self-administered survey, and automated custom reports that businesses could access.

He said it provided organisations with their results in two reporting formats, a high-level summary, and a more detailed report that also provided suggestions for improvements.

The People at Work Platform, including the 14-page survey, can be accessed at this PS News link.
