The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is to launch a new ‘Nation Brand’ to showcase Australian products and services on the world stage, and has invited input from businesses at a series of forums.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Steve Ciobo said the initiative would reinforce Australia’s reputation as a producer of premium quality goods and services, as an internationally competitive investment destination and a great place to visit and study.

“Creating a unified Nation Brand will help our exporters use Australia’s reputation to sell more of their goods and services to the world; driving economic growth and creating new jobs,” Mr Ciobo said.

He said a Nation Brand Advisory Council, Chaired by mining magnate Andrew Forrest (pictured), would oversee the development of the new nation brand.

Other council members include: Alan Joyce, Bob East, Christine Holgate, Glenn Cooper, Jayne Hrdlicka, Michael O’Keeffe, Mike Cannon-Brookes, Rod Jones, Wesley Enoch and Stephanie Fahey.

“To keep Australia globally competitive — now and in the future — we are developing this Nation Brand, applicable to all Australian industries, services and experiences and recognisable globally,” the Minister said.

“In addition to the council, we are welcoming extensive input from business and the broader community through the nationwide forum series, which has begun.

Those interested in the four-hour forums still to take place need to register as soon as possible.

These forums include: Perth (3 July, 9am-1pm); Darwin (5 July, 8:30am-12:30pm); Brisbane (6 July, 8:30am-12:30pm); Hobart (9 July, 8:30am-12:30pm); and Canberra (10 July, 9am-1pm) with Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide already completed.
