The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has launched a $40 million grants program to support projects creating jobs and employment opportunities for women, including women from diverse backgrounds.

Announced by the Minister for Women, Senator Marise Payne, the program is part of the Women@Work measure and is to be funded under the Women’s Leadership and Development Program (WLDP).

Senator Payne said the program, like the JobMaker Plan, was focused on the re-opening, recovery and reform of Australia’s economy.

She said the WLDP would target projects that improve outcomes for Australian women across five key areas:- Job creation; Economic security; Workforce participation; Leadership; and Safety.

“The funding will help boost women’s employment and set Australian women up for future jobs,” the Minister said.

She said projects funded under the 2018-19 WLDP grant opportunity were encouraged to apply for a continuation or expansion of their project.

“Projects that are scalable, transferable across industries and occupations, and those that focus on supporting women from different backgrounds (including rural, remote and regional women) are also encouraged,” Senator Payne said.

The grant opportunity closes at 11PM AEDT on Wednesday 9 December.

Further information on the grant opportunity is available from GrantConnect at this PS News link.
