ACT Policing has expressed its thanks to the more than 3,500 people who have cooperated with officers while in quarantine.

Head of the ACT Policing’s COVID-19 Taskforce, Detective Superintendent Hall O’Meagher said quarantine checks would continue for the next few weeks.

“For the past few months, ACT Policing officers have been conducting compliance checks with the ACT Government, and it was reassuring to see so many people doing the right thing,” Detective Superintendent O’Meagher said.

“Every day our targeting team officers return from their compliance checks with good news, which is a credit to the Canberra community,” he said.

“We know complacency is the big danger in this pandemic, so to each of the 3,500 Canberrans who have done the right thing, I say a big thank you and hope that what they’ve done will inspire others to do the same.”

Detective Superintendent O’Meagher said ACT Policing conducted 795 COVID-19 quarantine checks in the past week, which brought the total number of checks to more than 17,250 during the Territory’s COVID-19 response.
