New Fair Work Ombudsman named

Sandra Parker (pictured) has been appointed as the Fair Work Ombudsman for a five-year term, beginning on 15 July.

Ms Parker, the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Jobs and Small Business, was appointed following a merit-based selection process.

Ms Parker was promoted to senior executive level in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in 2002.


New head for DTA

The Chief Executive of the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), Gavin Slater is to leave the position at the end of this month to rejoin the private sector.

Mr Slater will be replaced by ‎Deputy Australian Statistician, Randall Brugeaud.


Appeal judges for Family Court

Justice Garry Watts and Justice Stewart Austin have been appointed to the Appeal Division of the Family Court of Australia.

Justice Watts was appointed as a judge of the Family Court in 2005.

He has been a member of the joint Family Law Advisory Group between the Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.

Justice Austin was appointed as a judge of the Family Court in 2009.

He was Chair of the Court Performance Committee for four years.


McKenzie to NBN Board

Zoe McKenzie has been appointed as a non‑executive Director of the Board of NBN Co. Limited for a three-year term.

Ms McKenzie has more than 20 years’ experience in legal practice, public policy and foreign investment and trade.

She is currently Chief Executive of Trade and Investment Advisory and serves on the Boards of the Australia Council for the Arts and the French Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Mason to Library Council

Former Senator Brett Mason has been appointed Chair of the Council of the National Library of Australia (NLA) for a three-year term, beginning on 9 August.

The Council is responsible for the NLA’s strategic direction and management.

Dr Mason is currently the Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and was a Senator for Queensland from 1999 to 2015, serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

He replaces Ryan Stokes, who has held the position since 2012.


Stokes to National Gallery

Ryan Stokes has been appointed Chair of the Council of the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) for a three-year term, beginning on 9 July.

Mr Stokes is currently Chief Executive and Managing Director of Seven Group Holdings and Chief Executive of Australian Capital Equity Pty Ltd.

He has been Chair of the Council of the National Library of Australia since 2012.

His appointment coincides with that of the new Director of the NGA, Nick Mitzevich, who will begin on 1 July.

Mr Stokes replaces Allan Myers.

The NGA Council is responsible for the management and strategic direction of the National Gallery.
