Health screening to be done at home

The ACT Health Directorate has launched a new digital screening tool, intended for Canberrans to complete before visiting health facilities.

Announced by the Minister for Health, Rachel Stephen-Smith, the new digital screening tool is set to make it easier for visitors to enter ACT health facilities following the reintroduction of visitor restrictions last week.

“We are asking any person who is unwell to stay away from our health facilities,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.

“This is to protect the health of patients who are already at greater risk of the impacts from COVID-19,” she said.

“This online screening process will help to streamline and coordinate people coming to our health facilities.”

Ms Stephen-Smith said anyone who had symptoms or had recently visited a high-risk area would be notified in advance that they couldn’t enter a health facility.

She said the online tool asked a series of simple questions and gave the user either a green tick or a red cross to indicate the level of safety to enter a facility on a specific date.

“Visitors can simply show the green tick on their mobile phone when entering a health facility,” she said.

“Staff will know you have completed the assessment and are permitted to visit.”

Ms Stephen-Smith said the tool could be accessed by scanning the QR codes featured on new posters outside health facility entrances or on the Canberra Health Services website.

The screening tool can be accessed at this PS News link.
