It’s been 25 years since British group, Supergrass, released their hit single, Alright.

The catchy pop song went to number two on the UK charts largely thanks to the exposure that it got after being used in the soundtrack for the film Clueless.

It charted well in many countries around the world including most of Europe and Ireland, although it only reached the low 90s in the Australian Top 100.

For many people it’s the only Supergrass song they know but the band had a series of hits, albeit none as successful as Alright, between their inception in 1993 and their eventual break-up in 2010.

Alright was lifted from their debut album I Should Coco which was released in 1994 and it was the fourth single to be lifted from the disc.

I Should Coco was the best selling debut album for Parlophone since The Beatles released Please Please Me which is some accolade to have in your memoirs.

It is by far the best selling album the band produced.

Supergrass reformed in 2019 and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Alright the band put together a six track EP which includes the original studio version of Alright, a live version recorded at Glastonbury in 1997, another live version recorded at T In The Park in 2000, plus a studio B-Side of Condition and a Studio B-Side of Je Suis Votre Papa Sucre.

This EP is in-fact the second ‘best-of’ celebration released by the band this year.

If you’re really into them they released a career-spanning box set Supregrass: The Strange Ones 1994-2008 which contains their six original albums on picture disc LP and CD, and bonus CDs of unreleased live material, B-Sides, remixes, rarities, studio out-takes and other assorted oddities.

All the formats come with extensive reading material via booklets including posters and button badges etc.

Supergrass were really big in the Britpop period of the late ‘90s and if this is your youth there’s a lot of interesting material in the box set.
