Spanish independent label, FOLC Records has put together a fantastic compilation album to raise money to buy gloves for medical professionals on the COVID-19 frontline.

As we know, Spain has been one of the hardest hit nations by the virus and the death toll, including amongst their health workers, has been horrendous.

All the artists on this 33-track album have provided their services free of charge and all monies raised will go directly to fighting the virus and saving lives.

The message I received from FOLC records says it all: “If we all contribute our grain of sand (by buying this compilation) we’ll be doing our bit to help the health sector that has been doing so much work for us since all this madness began.”

The other reason you should buy this CD is that it is absolutely wonderful.

The line-up includes bands from England and Spain that have released music through FOLC Records and also via Dirty Water Records.

You get the best of the garage/retro/rockabilly/surf-punk genres from the top bands, most of which you will never have heard of.

Amongst them there are some offerings from well-known bands that I’ve reviewed over the years including Mudhoney doing Ritzville, MFC Chicken (Waste Of Space), King Salami and The Cumberland 3 doing The Pulpo Dance and Hipbone Slim provides two tracks Jibber Jabber and Throw A Stone/Hide Your Hand.

However, the real revelations on the compilation are the tremendous Spanish bands, who offer tracks that range from rockabilly through punk to knees-up country hoedown.

The album download costs a very reasonable seven euros but if you want to pay more to help out the cause, they would greatly appreciate your additional donation.

It really is very good value for money and you’ll be helping the Spanish doctors and nurses who are engaged in the fight of their lives.

You can buy the album here.
