By Paul Gover.

Q: I was thinking of buying a new car between $30-40,000 and I have checked out a Honda CR-V VTi all-wheel-drive with all the sensing.

Just wondering what you think about this car or maybe suggest another make or model to check out.

Ted M

A: If you like it there is no reason not to go ahead for the CR-V.

Q: Just after advice on the Jaguar F-Pace 30d Sports or 30r Sports as 2017 models.

I currently have a 2015 BMW 340i and looking at upgrading to a SUV that will have a similar sports feel and power.
What’s your thoughts on the F Pace, especially the earlier model to keep price down?

James V

A: I have a friend with an F Pace Sports and he loves it, but there are zero SUVs that will match the driving enjoyment of your 3 Series. So don’t expect miracles as they are still giant and heavy and ponderous. F Pace ratest second in its class behind the Porsche Macan for me.

Q: I am driving an Audi A3 convertible which is automatic.

I enjoying driving a manual car and I find it very difficult to source a manual European car with manual transmission.

Do you have any suggestions please, before I change later this year?

Nadia B

A: In the A3 price-and-size range there is nothing with convertible and manual, although you could go for a Mazda MX-5 if you don’t need a lot of space.

Q: I’m looking for a basic dual-cab rear-wheel-drive ute to purchase for commuting to and from work and the odd fishing or camping trip.

I’m just looking at the Great Wall Steed and it suits my tight budget with five-year warranty.

Dino A

A: If price is the decider, then the Great Wall is OK and will be solid and reliable. But don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed.

Q: I’m looking at the Honda HR-V or Mazda CX-30 SUVs.

Which would have the better performance and also be better for an elderly parent to get into the front.

Tina E

A: It’s the CX-30, every time. It’s bigger and better, newer and safer.

Q: Have you driven the 2020VW Touareg V6?

If so, what do you think of it?

William (John ) S

A: It’s a ripper thing. I cannot say enough good about it, and it gets The Tick from me.
