The Department of Health is to launch a daily data dashboard to provide real time information for the public in relation to the COVID-19 situation.
In a statement, the Department said the data dashboard had been agreed to by the COVID-19 National Cabinet.
“The dashboard will shortly be available on www.health.gov.au to improve access to timely information on COVID-19,” the Department said.
It said the National Cabinet had also agreed to review updated health system capacity modelling when it meets today (7 April).
“This modelling would look at the trajectory of the outbreak in Australia, the capacity of our health care system and the measures put in place to suppress the spread of COVID-19,” it said.
It said the National Cabinet had noted that Australia was now in the “suppression phase” of the response, which would last for some time.
It said more than 297,000 tests for COVID-19 had been conducted across Australia.
“Of the 5,687 confirmed cases in Australia (as at 5 March), 34 have died from COVID-19.”
The Department also publishes a regular COVID-19 infographic to provide updates on the current pandemic situation in Australia.
“We update it every afternoon based on the data we receive by 3pm from States and Territories,” it said.
