The recently established National Bushfire Recovery Agency has launched its website to provide information to the public about the national response to the bushfires.
The Agency was announced by Prime Minister, Scott Morrison on 6 January to lead and coordinate a national response to rebuilding communities after the devastating fires.
Mr Morrison said it work with and for communities and all levels of Government, industry, business and charities.
The information on the website covers recovery assistance for residents and outlines the Australian Government response.
The Agency is led by the former Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Andrew Colvin.
Mr Colvin, who served in the AFP from 1990 to 2019, is no stranger to emergency situations.
He oversaw the Australian policing response to the 2002 Bali bombings and the 2004 Australian Embassy bombing in Jakarta.
As the National Bushfire Recovery Coordinator, Mr Colvin has already begun visiting affected communities and will continue to do so over the coming weeks and months.
The schedule of visits will be published on the new website along with regular updates on assistance and recovery measures.
The website – www.bushfirerecovery.gov.au – will be regularly updated with information on the national response.
