The Lazy’s are a Canadian based Aussie hard rock group that have really found their niche since relocating to the other side of the world.
After the band made the move to Canada their careers have gone from strength to strength.
They’ve toured extensively throughout North America and, in the process, become one of the most talked about live acts on the scene.
Tropical Hazards has done what only a few bands have been able to achieve, capture the raw power of the band on stage and put in on record.
The Lazy’s are a classic Aussie pub rock band following in the footsteps of great Australian rockers such as ACDC, The Angels, and Rose Tattoo and they paid their rock ‘n’ roll dues in pubs all over Australia before packing their bags and heading to New York to record an album.
It was while they were there that things took an unexpected turn.
They were booked to play three gigs in Toronto, Canada.
The first they played to 10 people but those 10 individuals spread the news rapidly and the second attracted the attention of prominent booking agent, Ralf James, who signed them on the spot.
At the third gig, by this time sold out, guitarist Ian D’Sa (Billy Talent) became an instant fan and began collaborating with the band.
They wrote Shake it Like You Mean It and Black Rebel which were added to the already completed album recorded in New York and the album immediately went Top 10.
High voltage riffing and powerful vocals are the order of the day on this album. I couldn’t help being reminded of early ACDC when listening to it.
The opening track, Nothing But Trouble, sets the tone.
The defiance of the opening track is carried through the remainder of the album.
Ten full on belters that keep the pedal to the floor with songs about wild nights and wild women, heartbreak and survival.
The Lazy’s have embarked on a tour of Europe that sees them play six gigs in Germany where they are headliners.
I highly recommend this album.
The Lazy’s are the best hard rockers to emerge from Australia since ACDC and The Angels.
