A Richmond police officer has been named the Rotary NSW Police Officer of the Year for her bravery during the 2016 and 2017 Lismore floods.
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller announced Richmond Police District’s Leading Senior Constable Amanda Vidler the winner at an awards function in Sydney last week.
Commissioner Fuller said Leading Senior Constable Vidler had also been awarded ‘Regional NSW Field Operations Police Officer of the Year’.
“Leading Senior Constable Vidler has shown incredible passion for policing and protecting the community in every facet of her career,” Commissioner Fuller said.
“Not only is she an incredibly capable police officer, she has the knowledge and skills to perform specialist roles in marine rescue, bomb appraisal, land search, and drone operation,” he said.
“To Leading Senior Constable Vidler, and all officers nominated this year, thank you all for your dedication to the job and the community of New South Wales.”
Commissioner Fuller said the winners in other award categories were:
Constable Michael Faragalla – Metropolitan Field Operations Police Officer of the Year;
Sergeant Glenn Williams – Investigations and Counter Terrorism Police Officer of the Year;
Senior Sergeant Wayne Hill – Corporate Services Police Officer of the Year;
Senior Constable Sheree Gray –Rotary Community Award;
Ritesh Singh – Police Employee of the Year;
Senior Constable Michael Crooks – Customer Service Excellence Award;
Senior Constable Holly Mills – Irene Juergens (IJ) Fellowship Award Sworn Category;
Veronica Millar – Irene Juergens (IJ) Fellowship Award Unsworn Category; and
Ian Martin – Volunteer of the Year Award.
