The Vietnamese Government has announced the launch of a national Public Service website aimed at improving the quality of services state Agencies offer.
Minister for the Government Office, Mai Tiến Dũng (pictured) said driver licence renewals, electricity bills and company tax payments would be among the first services provided on the platform.
He said the website – dichvucong.gov.vn – would also publicise information regarding administrative procedures and ensure “inspection and assessment of individuals and enterprises as well as accountability of state Agencies”.
Mr Dũng said he expected teething troubles with the website as Ministries and localities connected to it.
“For example, for renewing driving licences, the website will have to connect with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Health,” Mr Dũng said.
He said data from each locality, Ministry and Agency would link with the other to facilitate procedures.
“The homepage should be friendly and the authenticity must be simple to make it convenient for people and easy to use,” Mr Dũng said.
He said the launch of the website was the first step in a reform process to serve people and businesses.
“With people and businesses at the centre of these services, the Government Office will work with Agencies to select and integrate essential public services into the website,” Mr Dũng said.
“I expect these initial services to be up and running efficiently by the end of this year.”
Other services, including the collection of transport violation fines, birth registrations and granting of licences for business households, will be added in the first quarter of 2020.
